PWYP Nigeria was launched in 2004 and has supported the implementation of the EITI, including the passage of a law transposing the EITI. The coalition aims to build the capacity of civil society actors to understand the EITI process and the dissemination of the findings of its reports. It also supports public debates on governance and extractive industry reform and helps disseminate EITI reports in pilot states and local communities. More recently, the coalition has focused its efforts on using other data sources, including mandatory disclosure reports from large oil and gas companies listed in the UK and other European countries, to the support their advocacy goals.
